The procedure
The operation takes place under general anaesthetic, involving suction to remove excess fat.
You will have a firmly fitting garment like a girdle applied.
Small cuts are made in the skin to allow the blunt end of a small tube (cannula) to be passed underneath the skin. This is attached to a vacuum pump or syringe and the fat is sucked out.
The amount of time the procedure takes depends on how much fat is to be removed, and the areas of the body which are being treated.
When you wake up, you will have a firmly fitting garment like a girdle applied, plus small dressings over the wounds.
