Infection after surgery is extremely uncommon, but in some patients blood collections underneath the skin can develop, and these may need to be drained. Infection is very rare and we take all precautions to avoid this. Skin loss and other major complications are very rare.
The process of liposuction leads to the destruction of the fat globules, and there is a very small risk that some of the fat may enter the blood stream and be deposited elsewhere in the body (fat embolus).
