Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty)
Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) after care
- You will need to wear an abdominal support (provided by us) day and night for one month after the operation. Your tummy will feel very tight, but this is perfectly normal.
- Your activity will have to be restricted for a month if there has been extensive work to the muscles. This means avoiding physical exercise including housework – especially vacuuming, dog walking, lifting and gardening
- To ensure that everything knits together properly, you should avoid any heavy lifting or going to the gym for three months.
- Once your scars have healed, you may want to massage them once or twice a day with an appropriate cream or oil to help to minimise their appearance.
- Sometimes scars can become raised and itchy, and may take up to 18 months to settle.
